Fumbling Again and Again?

By | October 14, 2004

Some of my friends talk about all the mistakes they’ve made in life. I can sense a spirit of regret and shame. For example; maybe they’ve messed up a relationship or something else. But friends… let’s remember to be optimistic! Please don’t talk as if you are expecting to wake up tomorrow morning only to make more mistakes. Of course we will continue to make bloopers in life. But we shouldn’t be expecting to be failures. We should not despair.

God uses His children despite all their mess-ups. We underestimate God. I remember what my cousin said; “love God and everything else will fall into place.” God can repair, restore, and heal. He uses our experiences to mold us. Don’t you remember the word “redemption?” Redemption is what God is in the business of doing!

I am not beyond my own “preaching.” I need more faith, trust, and patience also. But let’s encourage each other as we run this race. Let’s fumble together in this race. Christ is the author and perfecter of our faith. We will finish the race if we persevere.

Disclaimer: I am assuming the guilt my friends have is not from God. There is a guilt from God that results from disobedience.

Point of interest: J.I. Packer has a book entitled “Never Beyond Hope.”
