Hospitality: to Entertain and Edify

By | November 12, 2005

I enjoy being hospitable. I love it when some of my law school buddies sit around my house just to chat. At Grove City College, the local churches served as my family when my parents were far away. They fed me, encouraged me, and brought my mind back to the real world.

My parents tell me that they used to have people over for dinner all the time. One year, they had people over 25 times. At $125 per session, that’s $3,125/year or maybe even $5,000 in today’s currency. There are so many good things do be done with money. I trust that God will provide me with the tools of hospitality (just enough money, a cozy house, a wife that can cook, social skills, wisdom to see people’s needs, etc…), if I seek His glory.

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” – Galations 6:10

I went to hospitality sunday last week and had the time of my life. Did you ever go with Mrs. Maher? She’s awesome!

    Nope, I haven’t.

I went to Covenant OPC for morning worship. Then last year, I went to Hillcrest for evening worship also. So I haven’t been to Hillcrest members’ houses, except for Pastor Hughes.
