“Any time a conflict between two people in a church is not properly resolved, it can grow to infect an entire congregation.” – Peacemaker website

Peacemaker ministries is an organization I would be interested in working for. (There are a whole bunch of organizations in my list right now.) Their ministry exists to help the church and Christians maintain a healthy witness. It’s really neat how much of their staff possess a law degree.

This page of their site has new meaning to me:

Conflict Can Mean Legal Liability

When churches do not deal with conflict in a biblical and legally prudent manner, they may face a lawsuit for:

* Breach of contract
* Defamation (slander or libel)
* Intentional or negligent infliction of emotional distress
* Breach of fiduciary responsibility
* Invasion of privacy
* Negligent hiring, supervision, or retention of employees or volunteers
* Sexual harassment
* Wrongful discharge
